Wow, I was just thinking about your work today, and specifically Josephine. Weird how that works.

It's not quibbling. I love that Josephine takes the boy with her to her community and he has interactions with the "Buffalo Soldier" and others. I need to reread it, because it's been a while, but when I initially read those pages I had the feeling of Josephine letting him in but not letting him in all the way. It made me think, partly, of someone like Dilsey in William Faulkner's "The Sound and the Fury."

Like I said, I haven't read in a few years, and I'm sure my thoughts have changed because whenever we return to a work we bring with us so much more.

Thank you for your work and thank you for calling upon me to think about different things.
