Thank you for this. I’m teaching a course this semester and using John A Williams’ “Clifford’s Blues.” It’s a novel about Clifford Pepperidge, a Black gay musician who spends 12 years (1933-1945) in Dachau. I’m planning to share your piece with students.

As well, I’ve been working over past few years on Jim Crow and the Holocaust, specifically the ways that Nazis drew on Jim Crow laws for their own laws.
